THE ACFT CRASHED IN A CORN FIELD DURING A HEAVY RAINSTORM WHILE ON A CROSS COUNTRY FLIGHT. THE PILOT HAD LOGGED 4 HOUR OF SIMULATED INSTRUMENT TIME AND WAS NOT INSTRUMENT RATED.
