ACCORDING TO THE PLT, A DOWNDRAFT WAS ENCOUNTERED ON BASE LEG CAUSING THE ACFT TO DESCEND AND DECELERATE. UNABLE TO REACH THE RWY THE GLIDER LANDED IN AN ORCHARD.
