On May 27, 2012, a Vietnam Airlines Airbus A-321-231, registration number VN-A356, powered by two International Aero Engines (IAE) V2500 turbofan engines experienced a engine crew and alerting message (ECAM) warning for a No. 2 engine stall and fire during the takeoff roll at approximately 130 knots at CAM RANH Airport(CXR)Vietnam. The takeoff was aborted, one fire suppression bottle was discharged, and engine shut down. There were no reported injuries to the crew or passengers on board. The Vietnam Civil Aviation Administration (CAA) is investigating the incident. As the state of manufacture of the engines, the NTSB has designated a U.S. Accredited Representative under the provisions of Annex 13 to the Convention on Civil Aviation to assist the Vietnam CAAin their investigation.
