On April 30, 2014, about 2215 UTC, a Cessna T210N, Brazilian Registration PR-WCO, registered to and operated by Mineradora Bom Jesus Ltda, collided with trees during a go-around from landing at an airstrip located in Para, Brazil. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time and no flight plan was filed for the foreign business flight from Novo Progresso Airport (SJNP), Para Brazil. The airplane was destroyed by impact and a postcrash fire and the private pilot and one passenger were fatally injured. The flight originated about 45 minutes earlier from SJNP. The estimated time of arrival at the airstrip was supposed to be after sunset, which occurred at 2145 UTC; the airstrip was not prepared for night operations. Witnesses reported that during a go-around from approach to the 1,968 foot-long runway made of slate, the airplane was observed in a steep left bank, followed by an aerodynamic stall, and subsequent collision with trees and terrain resulting in a postcrash fire. The investigation is under the jurisdiction of the Government of Brazil.
