Read the full NTSB narrative
The pilot reported that while on approach to land at a private grass airstrip, he had a higher-than-normal approach speed. The airplane landed long and bounced. The pilot realized he was unable to stop the airplane and attempted a go-around; however, the airplane was unable to gain enough airspeed to become airborne. The airplane struck a ditch and road sign which resulted in substantial damage to the left wing and fuselage. The pilot reported that the airplane had no preimpact mechanical malfunctions or failures that would have precluded normal operation.
Quoted verbatim from the NTSB record.
